Make Like a Salmon…

Make Like a Salmon...

Go with the flow.

Easy.  Less conflict.  Non-controversial.  Smooth.  Painless.  Within the box.  Static.

Paddle upstream.

Difficult.  More conflict.  Controversial.  Bumpy.  Painful.  Outside of the box.  Dynamic.

Success is often dependent upon knowing when to go with the flow and when to paddle upstream.  However, too much drifting isn’t a good thing–it builds complacency.  Go against the current from time to time, if for no other reason than to remind yourself that it is a possibility.

  2. Nice post, Jeff

Going against the current, Tom quotes Norman Maclean,
I’ll go to Paul Simon’s, “Mother and Child Reunion”:

I know they say let it be
But it just dont work out that way
And the course of a lifetime runs
    Over and over again
